Kyle Bruce, Jacqueline Nichele and Eileen Cikamatana took to the South Paris Arena as they all made their Olympic debut in Paris.
Eileen did her country proud when she took to the floor for the women’s 81kg competition. Facing an incredibly challenging final, Eileen came in fourth, 262 points after successfully lifting 145kg, but falling just short of her 149kg lift after two attempts.
Sydney’s Kyle competed in the men’s 86kg division, where he finished 10th. He lifted 330kg in an event that was won by Bulgarian Karlos May Nasar with a world record lift of 404kg.
“It was an incredible session. Congratulations to all the other athletes,” he said.
“They absolutely smashed it, and it was great to be a part of it as an Australian athlete here on the biggest stage with all the other countries.”
In Women's 71kg division, Jacqueline also finished 10th with a lift of 209kg.
"I've always been a hard worker when it comes to sport, and I just think if I keep doing that, then you never know you never know what opportunities pop up," Jacqueline said.
