In a dazzling display of aquatic artistry and athleticism, Australia's Artistic Swimming Team has made waves at the Paris 2024 Olympics, captivating audiences with their performances across all routine categories, team and duet.
Featuring two returning Olympians and seven debutants, delivered a memorable performance at the Aquatics Centre.
The team’s technical routine, inspired by a jungle adventure and set to Hans Zimmer's "Volcano," was meticulously executed. Scoring 235.9071 points and no base marks.
The team’s free routine, themed around the world of "Avatar" and set to music from "Avatar: The Way of Water," showcased a powerful and imaginative display.
Their degree of difficulty score was 59.575, and their total score for this routine reached 280.5521, with 180.9521 from elements and 99.6 from artistic interpretation, as they scored 280.5521 moving into the third and final routine.
Their vibrant acrobatic routine, celebrating cheerleading with Alvaro Rodriguez Alvarez's "Move Your Body," demonstrated both enthusiasm and precision.The routine added to their overall strong showing with a score of 211.9766.
They achieved a total of 728.4358 points, culminating in a ninth place finish overall.
The duet also impressed with their technical routine, themed around "Charlie's Angels" and set to a fitting score. Represented by returning Tokyo Olympians Rayna Buckle and Kiera Gazzard, the duet scored 210.0782
Rounding out Australia’s artistic swimming campaign at the Paris Games, Rayna and Kiera dove in to perform their Duet Free routine. With the theme and music inspired by the film Kung Fu Panda the pair scored 198.0271 for a total of 408.1053, placing 16th overall.
