Adelaide’s Molly Goodman and Tom Goodman have created sporting history as the first Australian siblings to qualify for the Olympics and Paralympic Games.
Their epic feat comes in the wake of the Australian Paralympic Committee’s announcement of the triathlon team for the Paris Games.
Tom, who was only classified in April, will compete in the PTS2 category.
His younger sister Molly, an Olympic rower, is already in Paris preparing to compete at her third Games as stroke of the women’s four.
While Australia has a rich legacy of siblings competing in elite sport - there are five sets on the 2024 Olympic Team - there has never been any across Olympic and Paralympic sports.
“That’s awesome to know,” Tom said, who will watch his sister compete on television from home to best prepare for his own competition.
“Molly's always been an inspiration. I've always looked up to her when it comes to sporting achievement; she’s been successful for a very long time.

“She has motivated me to achieve my own sporting objectives. It is fantastic to have a family member to look up to.”
The news adds to what is already an exciting year for the Goodman family with Tom’s partner Rachael expecting their first child a fortnight before he races on 1 September. The couple’s wedding is planned for October.
Father Andrew flies into Paris today, while mum Cath is already in the Olympic city. She will watch Molly and her crew row at Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium starting 28 July before jetting home for the birth of her first grandchild.
Tom secured his place at the Games after winning bronze medals at the World Para Series in Yokohama, Japan and Samarkand, Uzbekistan over the past three months.

His medal in Yokohama was his first from just three international races.
“I switched to triathlon after taking a break from sport when I started to work full-time,” Tom said.
“Triathlon was a hobby on the side while I was living interstate in Alice Springs working for the NDIS.
“I enjoyed it from there. Once I realised, I had a chance to qualify for the Paralympics, it became my objective.
“It’s been a very entertaining and hectic experience from there, but very enjoyable.”
