SHORT TRACK: Aussie skaters Deanna Lockett and Pierre Boda have had their second training session at the Iceberg Skating Palace in Sochi, and are getting more and more excited for the Games to begin.
"It's starting to set in a bit," Boda said. "We are going to be Olympians! It's been pretty exciting, the first couple of days wandering around the Village."
The pair have had two sessions on the competition rink so far, training alongside the some of the best athletes in the world from Team GB and Korea.
"The ice conditions have varied a little bit in the last day," Boda explained. "It will be a little bit softer for competition, but that's fine for racing. It just means that there is a lower top-speed on the ice so it will be easier to keep up and pass. We train for every ice condition so we're ready for it."
"The venue is super big," Lockett added. "The grandstand is massive and its bright, I love it."
For the last two weeks the skaters and their coach Ann Zhang have been in a training camp in Turkey putting the finishing touches on their Olympic preparation.
"I'm feeling pretty good," Lockett said. "My preparation has been going really well. I really had a solid two weeks of training and I feel like it's coming together.
"I don't race until the 15th so i'll be doing lots of training and also trying to stay rested until then.
Training next to the likes of Britain's Elise Christie doesn't intimidate the 18-year-old Aussie, but motivates her for race-day.
"We pretty much race with the same people all the time. I've been training with a few different groups since I got to Sochi and I feel like I am right up there with them."
Australia will first be in action in the Short Track Speed Skating on Day 8 (Saturday 15 February) with the women's 1500m. Lockett will also contest the 1000m on Day 11 (Tuesday 18th) and Boda will compete in the men's 500m on Day 14 (Friday 21st).
