DIVING: Australian 3m springboard diver Shixin Li is set to begin his Tokyo 2020 campaign on Day 10 of the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Australian divers have a decorated Olympic history winning medals at every Games since Sydney 2000, however, they are yet to medal in the Men’s 3m Springboard event.
Shixin Li has amassed an incredible 53 medals over his career in the FINA Circuit, originally competing on the 1m springboard.
Making his Olympic debut in Tokyo, Shixin Li will look to add to his medal haul by claiming Australia’s first Olympic medal in the 3m springboard event.
As Australia’s sole diver in this event, Li will face tough competition against China who have dominated at the past two Olympic Games. Rio 2016 silver medallist, Jack Laugher (GBR), and bronze medallist, Patrick Hausding (GER), will also be competing for a medal.
The Men’s 3m Springboard preliminary will begin at 4:00pm (AEST) on Monday August 2. Both the semi-final and final rounds will be held on
Tuesday August 4 at 11:00am (AEST) and 4:00pm (AEST) respectively. The top 18 divers from the preliminary will progress to the semi-final, with 12 moving through to the final medal round.
