IOC: The FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, is standing down from the International Olympic Committee.
The IOC President, Thomas Bach, informed the members attending the 128th Session in Kuala Lumpur that Mr Blatter had decided not to stand for re-election.
Blatter was one of a group of members seeking another 8-year term on the IOC but he informed President Bach by letter late in July that he would not stand.
Blatter will be replaced as FIFA President in an election on February 26 next year.
He said in his letter to the IOC “he does not deem it to be appropriate to stand for re-election (IOC) for eight years knowing that after seven months his term would come to an end”.
