The Rhythmic Gymnastics kicks off on Friday 6th August with the Individual All-Around competition at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre.
There will be 26 gymnasts competing and Australia's Lidiia Iakovleva will complete in all four rotations, with four different apparatus; the hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon. The four scores will be added together to determine an overall score and the top 10 gymnasts qualifying for the final.
Iakovleva qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in May 2021 after winning the 2021 Continental Championships and secured the only individual All-Around Oceania quota place.
It is a field of incredibly talented athletes, Iakovleva will take on current world number one Linoy Ashram from Israel and Alina Harnasko from Belarus who sits as world number two. Ukraine and the Russian Olympic Committee are both strong nations and with Italy and Bulgaria also in the mix, the Olympic debutant will have a difficult competition to conquer in order to qualify for finals.
Following the qualifying day, the group qualifying sessions will take place on Saturday 7 August before the Individual All-Around finals the same afternoon. Group finals will place on Sunday 8 August.
You can watch Lidiia Iakovleva in action live from 11:20am AEST on Friday 6 August on Seven and 7plus.
