Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederick will be one of six candidates up for election to the IOC in Copenhagen on Friday.
Prince Frederick spoke at the opening of the Olympic Congress and he and Princess Mary joined the IOC members to celebrate Rio’s win over the weekend.
The Prince is a keen sailor and well known to the Olympic family. His election as an IOC member is seen as a mere formality.
He will join the likes of Prince Albert of Monaco in the IOC ranks. Frederick met his wife Mary Donaldson from Tasmania during the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
