SHOOTING: A perfect third round of 25 has put Australia’s Keith Ferguson in a tie for 11th place, after three rounds of the men’s skeet competition at the Royal Artillery Barracks.

Ferguson posted rounds of 23, 22 and 25 for an overall score of 70 in mostly ideal, if not sometimes blustery conditions.

There are two more rounds of qualifying, with the top six men advancing to the final.

Compatriot Clive Barton is in 29th place, with a score of 67. The 40-year-old New South Welshman also shot a perfect third-round score of 25.

Ferguson said he was looking forward to the final two rounds of qualifying.

“I shot like I did in training, so I’m pretty happy with that,” he said.

“I’m really excited about what can happen tomorrow, and pushing for a place in the final.”

Earlier, William Godward finished 40th, and Dane Sampson 42nd in the qualification round of the men’s 10m air rifle.

They finished with scores of 588 and 587 respectively.

The gold medal was won by Romania.
