The Australian team completed competition at the 2011 World Trampoline Championships in Birmingham, United Kingdom with some solid results in the Olympic individual trampoline discipline led by 19-year-old Blake Gaudry.

Gaudry finished a valiant 16th in the men’s individual trampoline. He missed out on the eight-man final which secured Olympic quota places for the top eight competitors (limited to two per country), but his efforts were enough to earn Australia a spot at the Olympic Test Event in January 2012.

At the Test event in London’s North Grenwich Arena, Australia will vie to finish in the top five in order to secure a male spot at the London Games. The next task will be trying to find the podium for the first time since trampoline was introduced to the Olympics in 2000 when Aussie Ji Wallace won a silver medal.

The other Australian men also performed well in Birmingham, with Shaun Swadling 32nd, William Morris 44th and Ty Swadling 97th.

The men’s trampoline team, consisting of Ty and Shaun Swadling, Blake Gaudry and William Morris, finished in a commendable 9th position overall.

Australia’s sole female competitor Bethany Bailey finished 69th.
