The Olympic Channel announced that its live streaming channel is now available in Australia on 7plus, the streaming platform of the Official Australian Olympic Broadcaster Seven West Media.

The Olympic Channel 24/7 live stream showcases the power of sport and the excitement of the Olympic Games all year long. Offering unparalleled access to Olympic sports and athletes, the subscription-free Olympic Channel offers original programming, documentaries, gold medal performances and memorable moments from the Olympic Games.

In addition to replays from past Olympic Games, content on the Olympic Channel features inspiring athlete stories including Australia’s swimming superstar Ian Thorpe in Legends Live On, the Webby award-winning Identify series about the journeys of transgender athletes and the fitness-based Hitting the Wall.

“We are thrilled to bring an Olympic Channel experience to 7plus users in Australia as we continue to grow and evolve our global product,” said Mark Parkman, General Manager of the IOC’s global Olympic Channel. With the countdown to Tokyo 2020 underway, fans now have more options to discover our content and engage with their favourite sports and athletes to get excited for next summer’s Games.”

Seven West Media’s Chief Revenue Officer and Director of Olympics Kurt Burnette said: “As both Official Broadcaster and Official Sponsors of the Australian team, Seven is proud to be the home of the Olympics and Paralympics. With one year to go until what will be the most watched Olympics, and the biggest digital event, in Australian history, we are thrilled to be launching the Olympic Channel on 7plus. Seven will deliver unprecedented coverage of Tokyo 2020, and it all starts now with this fantastic channel that will tell the stories of the incredible athletes in the run up to the greatest sporting event of all.”

Today’s launch of the Olympic Channel on 7plus marks one year to go to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and complements Seven’s media rights agreement with the International Olympic Committee which includes broadcasting rights for Tokyo 2020.

Through strategic distribution partnerships with the IOC’s rights-holding broadcast partners and National Olympic Committees, the Olympic Channel is continuing to develop localised versions leading to more personalised experiences for Olympic fans around the world. These digital and linear distribution partnerships have resulted in an Olympic Channel presence in 159 territories complementing the global digital platform.
