From humble beginnings in Murrayville, Victoria, to Vice Captain of the Opals at Sydney 2000, three-time Olympic medallist Rachael Sporn reflects on her Sydney 2000 experience, the heart-stopping gold medal match against the USA, and what life looks like now.

Rachael Sporn won three Olympic medals with the Australian women’s basketball team: bronze in 1996 and silver in 2000 and 2004.

From humble beginnings in Murrayville, Victoria to Vice Captain of the Opals at Sydney 2000, the triple Olympian reflects on her Sydney 2000 experience and the heart-stopping gold medal match against the USA.

The forward represented Australia in more than 300 matches, became captain of the Opals and also enjoyed success as a professional player, most notably in the WNBA with the Detroit Shock.

She shares how basketball changed her life, the unbreakable friendships she’s made along the way and what life looks like now, 16 years after her last Olympic campaign.
