ALPINE SKIING: Melbourne duo Louis Muhlen and Katie Parker have both claimed top 20 finishes in the combined event in the second day of competition on the Hafjell Olympic Slope.
After claiming 29th in the Super G on the opening day of Lillehammer 2016, Muhlen improved to finish 17th with Parker backing up her 16th place Super G finish with a 17th in the combined.
Muhlen finished the Super G component of the combined in 23rd, 2.65 seconds off the lead before clocking the 19th best time in the Slalom. It was that result that catapulted him into top 20 eventually finishing 4.16 seconds behind USA’s River Radamus in the 54-strong field.
Muhlen, who admitted to being a little off in his first event, was much happier with his result this time around.
Parker made it back-to-back top 20 results after another impressive day on the Lillehammer snow.
The 17-year-old completed the Super G 3.88 seconds off the lead before finishing with the 19th best Slalom result. She was a total of 8.56 seconds off classy Swiss skier Aline Danioth.
Parker will now have a day off from competition before competing in the giant slalom while Muhlen will have a couple of days rest before also competing in the giant slalom.
