The Australian Olympic Committee would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.

2006 was a very successful year for many Australian athletes and the AOC. Dale Begg-Smith’s gold and Alisa Camplin’s bronze at the Torino Games in February were the stand-out achievements from our largest ever Winter team.

Australia’s summer athletes also excelled throughout the year with the AOC expecting to send over 500 athletes to the Beijing Games in less than two years.

AOC staff have been extremely busy organising the fourth Australian Youth Olympic Festival. Over 2,000 athletes and officials from 21 nations will converge on Sydney in January to compete across 16 Olympic sports.

As it has in at the previous three Festivals the AYOF will uncover future Olympians. Twenty-eight members of the Australian Olympic Team in Athens competed in the 2001 or 2003 Festivals.

The AOC invites everyone to come and See tomorrow’s Olympians today in Sydney from January 17-21 with entry to all sporting events FREE.

The AOC and olympics.com.au are eagerly anticipating a sensational 2007.

Seasons Greetings from all AOC staff
