The Australian Opals women’s basketball team will have a late night on Day 1 of their London campaign, with a scheduled 10:15pm tip-off (7:15am AEST) against the home nation Great Britain, igniting Australia’s basketball campaign, with the official tournament schedule being released today by the international governing body of the sport, FIBA.
The Australian Boomers men’s basketball team will face Brazil first up, on Day 2 of the tournament, set to tip off at 11:15am local time (8:15pm AEST).
The 16-day tournament, which runs from Saturday, 28 July to Sunday, 12 August London time, will see the Aussie basketballers on court daily for the first 10 days of competition, with the Jayco Opals and Boomers alternating days throughout the preliminary stages.
On Day 11 the women’s Quarter Finals will tip off, with the men moving into their Quarter Final stage on Day 12 of the tournament.
The teams will need to be ready to play at all hours, with game times ranging from 9:00am through to 10:15pm local time, the latter game-time scheduled to finish at midnight.
