Australia’s snowboard halfpipe team has had its first day of training on the Torino 2006 site in Bardonecchia in preparation for World Cup events on Thursday and Friday evenings AEDT.

Andrew Burton, Ben Mates and Torah Bright all trained, with Mitch Allan opting out after a bout of food poisoning yesterday.

“All the riders had some trouble with the pipe today, because there was a bit too much vert (vertical) on one edge,” Bright said. “But they will work on that for tomorrow.”

“It took me a while to work out the pipe today, but I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
