Liz Gardner has performed best for the Australian Flying Kangaroos in a wind-affected second round of the aerial skiing World Cup in Deer Valley.

Gardner placed 12th in the qualifying round with 83.01 for her triple twisting double somersault, and maintained that result when the final round was cancelled due to high winds.

Lydia Ierodiaconou, who had taken comeback gold in the opening Deer Valley competition yesterday, opted to stand out of the second event along with 2002 Olympic champion Alisa Camplin.

Lainie Cole was one place behind Gardner on 74.81 points, while Jacqui Cooper finished in 16th position on 73.06 points after electing to wind back her routine to a double twisting double somersault.

Although her points in the air were excellent, she touched a hand on landing and was penalised by the judges.

The event was won by Chinese skier Xin Xin Guo, who landed a triple twisting triple somersault - the hardest trick in the women's repertoire - for a score of 103.68 points.

Canadian Veronika Bauer was second on 93.76 points and Belarussian Alla Tsuper third on 93.29 points.

Another round of the World Cup will be held in Lake Placid, New York, on Saturday 21 January (Sunday morning AEDT).
