Forty-seven of Australia's best up-and-coming winter athletes are heading to Gangwon, South Korea to compete in the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games from Friday 19 January to Thursday 1 February.

The athletes will compete across eight disciplines: Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Short Track Speed Skating and Snowboard with the action being shown live and free on 9Now.

Team Australia will take part in the Gangwon 2024 Opening Ceremony on Friday 19 January from 9:55pm AEDT, live on 9Go!, with the action set to heat up on Saturday 20 January when Australia competes in Biathlon (women's 10km individual, men's 12.5km individual), Short Track Speed Skating (men's 1500m), Snowboard Cross (men's and women's) and Ice Hockey (women's) from 1pm AEDT.

The Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Team will be led by Vancouver 2010 Olympian Ramone Cooper as Chef de Mission. While four-time Olympian Britteny Cox will accompany the Australian Team in a mentor role through the IOC's Athlete365 Career+ program.

The Gangwon 2024 Games will see the new event of dual moguls competed for the first time in Youth Olympic history, and the first all-Australian Ice Hockey Team will represent Australia at a Youth Olympic Games (YOG), played in the 3x3 format.

Gangwon 2024 is the fourth edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games, with previous Games being held in Lausanne 2020, Lillehammer 2016 and the inaugural edition of Innsbruck 2012.

Winter Olympians Sami Kennedy-Sim and Jackie Narracott have also been selected by the International Federations of Winter Sports as 'Athlete Role Models' and will aim to mentor and support the young athletes over the duration of the Games.

Team Australia have claimed seven medals over the three previous Winter YOG: one gold, three silver and three bronze.

10 Winter Youth Olympic athletes have gone on to represent Australia at the Winter Olympic Games; Emily Arthur (Snowboard), Alex Ferlazzo (Luge), Greta Small (Alpine Skiing), Lucy Glanville (Biathlon), Harry Laidlaw (Alpine Skiing), Josie Baff (Snowboard), Hugo Hinckfuss (Cross-Country Skiing), Abi Harrigan (Freestyle Skiing), Louis Muhlen-Schulte (Alpine Skiing), and Katie Parker (Alpine Skiing).
