Free Ski Slopestyle – Joey from Jindabyne places 13th
Joey Elliss, Australia’s lone men’s free ski slopestyle athlete at Gangwon 2024, had eyes for making the top-10 cut to compete in the finals.
After scoring 31.00 on his first qualifying run and an improved 59.00 on his second run, his top score was unfortunately 13.75 points away from advancing to the final and landed him 13th overall.
Joey is going to be back for the men’s free ski big air qualifying on Saturday.
Alpine Skiing – Fast-finishing Max Kelly nabs 22nd
The men’s and women’s slalom concluded Australia’s alpine skiing program in Gangwon, with Max Kelly the top performer finishing 22nd.
His 51.41 opening time ranked 37th in the first run, then he recorded the 18th fastest second run (55.77) to improve his overall ranking by 15 spots.


Arkie completed her first run in a time of 55.01, which ranked 32nd in the field of 78 athletes from 48 different countries, then did not finish her second run.
Snowboard Slopestyle – Milo shifts mindset to big air
Representing Australia from Victoria, Milo Botterill had a tough day in the men’s snowboard slopestyle and finished 20th overall.
Not from a lack of trying, Milo went after his tricks on both qualifying runs but wasn’t able to execute them, mustering a best score of 18.00 on his second run.
Milo’s focus now moves towards the men’s snowboard big air competition on Saturday.
