Cycling – BMX Racing World Cup

The BMX Racing World Cup is set to wrap up with rounds 5 and 6 from Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 April in Tulsa, United States.

Olympians Saya Sakakibara and Lauren Reynolds are headlining the elite women’s event alongside Sienna Pal, making the step up from the U23s competition.

In the men’s competition, four Aussies will represent the green and gold on the course, including Izaac Kennedy, Jack Davis, Joshua Mclean and Kale Warner.

Shooting – ISSF Shotgun Olympic Qualification Tournament 

Four Aussie shotgun shooters have headed to Doha, Qatar as part of their final Olympic qualification starting today Friday 26 April to Monday 30 April.

Laura Coles, Aislin Jones and Brittany Melbourne are representing Australia in the women’s skeet, whilst Joshua Bell will compete in the men’s skeet.

The tournament represents the first of two international competitions as part of the Australian Team Olympic nomination process. There are also quotas on offer, with Australia currently holding one for each of men’s and women’s skeet.

Athletics – Suzhou Diamond League

After the Diamond League season opening event in Xiamen, China the action shifts to Suzhou, China on Saturday 27 April for round two.

Dual-Olympian Brooke Buschkuehl (nee Stratton) will head up the women’s long jump with Joel Baden taking on the men’s high jump. Mackenzie Little and Kathryn Mitchell will contest the women’s javelin throw.

On the track, Cara Feain-Ryan is set to take on the women’s 3000m steeplechase, whilst Callum Davies will run the men’s 5000m.

Archery – World Cup

Eight recurve archers and five compound archers have started competing in Shanghai, China for the first stage of the 2024 World Cup, running through Sunday 28 April.

Dual-Olympian Ryan Tyack, Peter Boukouvalas, Kane Wilson and Jai Crawley are in the men's recurve competition. Laura Paeglis, Sarah Haywood, Kim Lavender and Laura Trezise represent Australia in the women's recurve.

Judo – Pan American and Oceania Championships

Eight Aussie judokas are eager to compete in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from Friday 26 to Saturday 27 April as part of the Pan American and Oceania Championships.

Top five world-ranked judoka Katharina Haecker will compete in the women’s –63kg category alongside Maeve Coughlan, whilst Anneliese Fielder is set to take on the women’s –48kg with Tinka Easton competing in the women’s –52kg.

Tokyo 2020 Olympian and top 10 world-ranked judoka Aoife Coughlan will compete alongside 2023 Pacific Games gold medallist Saya Middleton in the women’s -70kg.

In the men’s, Rio 2016 Olympian Joshua Katz will take on the men’s –60kg event, whilst Danny Vojnikovich will compete in the men’s –90kg.

Hockey – International Festival of Hockey

The Hockeyroos are up against Japan for a second time at the International Festival of Hockey in Perth on Sunday 28 April after defeating them 1-0 in the final minute of game one.

Tennis – Madrid Open

With the clay court season in full-swing, a contingent of Aussies are taking on the high-profile Madrid Open in Spain.

Three Aussie men – world no.11 Alex de Minaur, no.32 seed Jordan Thompson and Max Purcell - are still remaining from the opening field of 128 men's singles players.

Less than a fortnight after Alex defeated Rafael Nadal, the pair have a rematch in the second round on Saturday.


Daria Saville has capitalised on her late inclusion to the women’s singles draw, riding a straight sets victory over a qualifier to setup a second-round clash against no.20 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

The women’s doubles first round will also get underway this weekend, as no.2 seeded pairing Ellen Perez (AUS) and Nicole Melichar-Martinez (USA) go up against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Anastasia Potapova.

Golf – LIV Adelaide & LPGA LA Championship

The second LIV Adelaide tournament is underway with the first golfers having teed off on Friday morning, where Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Lucas Herbert and Matt Jones are looking to win on home soil amongst a field of 54 golfers.

Playing concurrently will be nine Aussie women on the LPGA Tour at the Wilshire Country Club, Los Angeles, California for the LA Championship title. Grace Kim has rocketed to seven-under after one round to sit at the top of the leaderboard. Hannah Green is the defending champion.
