Cycling – BMX Freestyle – Olympic Qualifier Series
Five Australian BMX freestylers have headed to Shanghai, China to compete in the first of two Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) competitions running until Saturday 18 May.
Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Logan Martin will kickstart the men’s BMX freestyle park qualification starting at 5:00pm AEST today Friday 17 May. He will be joined by Jaie Toohey and Alec Danelutti in the event.
Sarah Nicki and Tokyo 2020 Olympian Natalya Diehm are competing in the women’s BMX Freestyle park qualification, which got underway from 12:00pm AEST today.
The women’s final will be held from 12:00pm AEST tomorrow Saturday 18 May, with the men’s final commencing afterwards at 2:45pm AEST.
Athlete rankings at the end of the second OQS event (26 June) will determine which non-qualified athletes earn quotas for Paris 2024.

Skateboarding – Park & Street - Olympic Qualifier Series
Nineteen Aussie street and park skateboarders have joined the BMX freestylers in Shanghai, China as part of the first event of the Olympic Qualifier Series.
Athlete rankings at the end of the second OQS event (26 June) will determine which non-qualified athletes earn quotas for Paris 2024.
Park
The women’s park preliminary competition has already started with six Aussies competing, two of which made it through to the semi-finals, Arisa Trew and Ruby Trew (not related).
Arisa Trew was the highest placed Aussie coming second to Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Kokona Hiraki (JPN). Ruby Trew came 13th with a best score of 59.62 to put her through to the next round.
The women’s semi-final will take place on Saturday 18 May at 12:00pm AEST where the top eight athletes will make it through to the final on Sunday 19 May at 12:00pm AEST.
Six Aussies are in contention in the men’s competition, headlined by Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Keegan Palmer. The men’s park preliminary round starts today Friday 17 May at 12:00pm AEST with the top 16 athletes making it through to the semi-final on Saturday 18 May at 6:40pm AEST.
Street
The men’s street preliminary round commenced yesterday with three Aussies competing but not qualifying through to the semi-final. Rome Collyer was the best placed Aussie with a top score of 53.21 putting him in 36th position.
Chloe Covell, Felicity Turner, Haylie Powell and Liv Lovelace will take on the women’s street competition starting today 17 May from 2:30pm AEST.

Rowing – Final Olympic Qualification Regatta
Rowers are ready to compete in their final chance at qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Lucerne, Switzerland from Sunday 19 May to Tuesday 21 May.
The top two boats per each Olympic division at the regatta event will earn a quota for Paris 2024.
Australia has already qualified several boats for Paris 2024 and will be trying to qualify boats in the men’s single sculls, double sculls, quad sculls and women’s lightweight double sculls in this final regatta.

Boxing – Final World Qualification Tournament
Australia has currently qualified and selected 12 boxers to the Team heading to Paris 2024, with one remaining quota up for grabs at the Final World Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand from Thursday 23 May to Monday 3 June.
Boxer Adrian Paoletti is fighting for his last chance to represent Australia at the upcoming Olympic Games in the men’s 92kg division.
The top four athletes at this event will earn themselves a quota spot for Paris 2024.

Judo – IJF World Championships
Four Aussies will be amongst the 676 judokas competing at the IJF World Championships from Sunday 19 May to Friday 24 May in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Tokyo 2020 Olympian Katharina Haecker is heading into the competition as the second seed in the women’s 63kg category, whilst teammate and Tokyo 2020 Olympian Aoife Coughlan is the fifth seed going into the women’s 70kg category.
Tinka Easton (women’s -52kg) and Maeve Coughlan (women’s -63kg) are also set to take on the international competition.

Archery – World Cup
Stage two of the Archery World Cup starts Tuesday 21 May to Sunday 26 May in Yecheon, South Korea with 16 Aussies competing in the men’s and women’s recurve and compound events.
Dual-Olympian and Rio 2016 bronze medallist Ryan Tyack will headline the men’s recurve team alongside Peter Boukouvalas, Jai Crawley and Kane Wilson, whilst Sarah Haywood, Laura Paeglis, Kim Lavender and Laura Trezise take on the women’s recurve.
Eight archers will take on the compound event, four men and four women.

Golf – PGA Championship
Australia’s top men’s golfers are in Louisville, United States where they’ve completed the first round of the PGA Championship.
Cameron Smith faired best of the Aussies on the day, finishing three-under and in a tie for 18th. Lucas Herbet is one shot back and tied for 32nd.
Important world ranking points are on offer at the Major. Multiple Aussies are contending to be our nation’s top-two ranked players, to meet the ranking requirement for Paris 2024 Australian Olympic Team nomination.

Volleyball – Beach Pro Tour Elite 16
Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy are competing from Thursday 23 May in Espinho, Portugal as part of the Beach Pro Tour Elite 16.
They’ll start their pool matches against the Brazilian pairing of Carolina Solberg Salgado and Barbara Seixas de Freitas on Thursday at 10:00pm AEST.
