Camaraderie through combat sports, strength in numbers tackling mental health and the celebration of Australian Olympic Change-Makers marked a fantastic month of the Olympic spirit in Australian communities.
Mental health focus for Olympic Wellbeing Series
The AOC’s Wellbeing Series 2022 presented by Allianz was launched, helping empower conversations about mental health.
Opening with a social media campaign, Olympians Elijah Winnington, Jess Stenson, Skye Nicolson, Blake Edwards, Brad Hore, Belle Brockhoff and Kyah Simon shared their insights on their mental health journeys with short personal videos, which culminated on RUOK Day.
The series continues this month, with Olympians Peter Bol, Casey Dellacqua, Amy Jones and Hannah Davis joining Paralympian Madison de Rozario in an online forum focused on sport’s role in promoting social inclusion on Friday 14 October.

Olympics Unleashed TV Showcases Judo and Taekwondo Olympians
Australian combat Olympians brought viewers into their high performance combat centre to share what drives and inspires them on the road to an Olympic Games.
Judoka brothers Nathan and Josh Katz and Tokyo 2020 taekwondo Olympian Stacey Hymer showed off their skills and shared tips and tricks for students to break down their goals and put in place steps to achieve them.
Students honoured as Olympic Change-Makers
Hundreds of Aussie students were recognised as Australian Olympic Change-Makers for creating positive change in their communities.
An Olympic forum saw all nominated Change-Makers connect to a live show featuring Beijing 2022 Olympian Valentino Guseli and Tokyo 2020 Olympians Taliqua Clancy, Gronya Somerville and Cedric Dubler.



The Change-Makers heard directly from the Olympians on the power of Olympic sport to make a difference, and congratulated the young leaders for already showing that impact in their own schools and communities.
Students inspired by visit with Olympic bronze medallist
Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist rower Caitlin Cronin had an inspiring visit with students at Budawang School in Ulladulla, on the NSW South Coast.
Budawang provides a happy, caring and vibrant environment for students with an intellectual disability, with around 30 students from K-12.
From a student-led race around the school grounds to trying on Caitlin’s medal, the students and Caitlin shared the Olympic Spirit.
Sharing the Olympic Spirit from ice tracks to outback schools
Triple Olympian luge racer Alex Ferlazzo traded in the ice for North Queensland heat, visiting schools in Urandanji, Cloncurry and Mt Isa with Olympics Unleashed.
Alex shared his Olympic journey, from growing up in Townsville to becoming Australia’s most successful luge Olympian, and how lessons he learnt on the way can help the students find and achieve their own goals.
