Jo Shaw has produced the best world championship parallel slalom result of her career, finishing in 24th place in Arosa, Switzerland.

It was also her second best world title result overall, surpassed only by her 21st in snowboard cross in the 2003 championships.

Shaw put together a two run total time of 44.25 seconds in the qualifying rounds, 2.98 seconds behind leading qualifier Doresia Krings of Austria, but only 0.69 of a second outside a place in the 16-woman head-to-head finals.

In an Austrian trifecta, the world crown went to Heidi Neururer, with the silver going to Marion Kreiner and bronze to Krings.

Emanuel Oppliger finished in 41st place in the men's event, which was won by 2006 World Cup champion and Torino silver medallist Simon Schoch of Switzerland.

Schoch's brother Phillipp, the Torino gold medallist, claimed the silver medal.

Shaw finished in 35th place in the parallel giant slalom at the World Championships a day earlier, with Torino Games team-mate Oppliger disqualified out of the men's competition.

The Olympic Winter Institute halfpipe riders Andrew Burton and Holly Crawford will compete on Saturday night in Arosa.
