The weather-affected Kitzbuhel speed events finally managed a start in super G, with Craig Branch placing 46th in a field of 58.

Branch covered the 2280m Streifalm course in a time of one minute 25.83 seconds, 3.44 seconds slower than race winner Hermann Maier.

It was Maier’s first super G win of the season, after two silver medals, and took him to the top of the discipline standings ahead of Bode Miller of the United States.

Daron Rahlves of the US took the silver medal and Maier's Austraian team-mate Fritz Strobl the bronze.

Miller continues to lead the overall standings from Benjamin Raich and Maier.
