CYCLING: Australian coach, Sian Mulholland, has been awarded the International Olympic Committee’s Women in Sport award for the Oceania region.

Ms Mulholland from Canberra received her award at the 127th Session of the IOC in Monaco.

She has produced world and Australian champions on the road and the track, in elite and disabled cycling. And has worked in sport for over 25 years developing opportunities for women in sport, particularly cycling.

Ms Mulholland has worked as a sports adviser at the Australian Sports Commission and is also very much involved in developing educational resources and policy documents.

“It is a fabulous acknowledgement and great to get my sport into the spotlight. It is great for the region (Oceania) and after a lifetime of doing stuff for the sport it is nice to be recognised in the public arena,” she said.

Five women were awarded regional awards and Meriem Cherni Mizouni of Tunisia the World Trophy - from 39 candidates nominated by National Olympic Committees, continental associations and international federations.

Australia collected a second award at this Session with Network Ten awarded silver for the Best Olympic Feature during their coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

The network was honoured at the IOC Golden Rings Awards which included HSH Prince Albert and IOC President, Thomas Bach, among the 500 guests.

The silver award to Network Ten was the result of an outstanding teaser and opener to their Olympic coverage which was produced by Lesley Tapsall, Jane Caswell, Kim Knox and Tim Hannah.
