The Australian Boomers have beaten the star-studded USA Basketball team 91-83, during the tightly contested Tokyo Olympic warm-up series held in Las Vegas. 

The Australian side took the lead at three-quarter-time after a three-pointer from Chris Goulding gave them a five point advantage. The USA briefly took the lead in the fourth quarter, but struggled for fluency against a dogged Boomers defence. The Australian side had an impressive 11-1 run in the final minutes of the game, to claim the victory. 

NBA stars Patty Mills and Joe Ingles led the Australian side to victory, with Mills scoring an impressive 22 points throughout the game followed closely by Ingles with 17. 

"We're not satisfied. We've got a long way to go," Mills said.

"We can still get a lot better. But defence is where we're going to hang our hat this whole campaign.

"We believe in our entire team, and everyone being able to step on the floor and make an impact.

"We're deep. And yes, not a lot of people might know people on our team. But for them to come in and make big plays is a credit to how much work we're putting in together, and trusting and believing in each other."

The Australian Boomers are now sitting at 2-0 in the ongoing exhibition series, after beating World No.4 Argentina earlier on the weekend 87-84. Australia will next face Nigeria on Wednesday, before playing a second game against America later in the series.
