VOLLEYBALL: The Australian men's volleyball team have recorded their first World League clean sweep, beating Canada 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-18) at Sydney Olympic Park.
The win follows a hard fought 3-2 win against the Canadians at the same venue on Saturday night.
Australia went into Sunday's match without injured Olympians Nathan Roberts and Travis Passier, but won off the back of outstanding performances from captain Aidan Zingel and the power of the 212cm-tall Tom Edgar.
Zingel said the win gives his team plenty of confidence ahead of next weekend's Group Two finals in Sydney.
"There's a real positive vibe and a great feeling in the team," he said.
"We know we can match it off the back of this weekend."
Canada are currently ranked 11th in the world, while the Australians are 14th.
But they've both been overshadowed in their World League by 30th ranked Belgium, who will also play in next week's finals.
Edgar top-scored for Australia with 24 points, while Zingel, so far the best blocker in Group Two of the World League, added 14 points.
Zingel said the team still has plenty of work to do, having once again thrown away a small lead in the game's opening set and giving up soft points on set points.
