WATERPOLO: Game two for the Aussie Stingers will see them take on former Olympic champions the Netherlands, who return to the Olympic Games for the first time since they clinched gold in 2008 Beijing.

The Aussie Stingers come into the match after a solid 8-5 win over Canada, while the Netherlands had a bye on the first day of competition so will be out to make their mark.

Triple Olympian and Captain of the Aussie Stingers, Rowie Webster, said the Netherlands will be a bit of an x-factor with a new look Olympic team.

“They’ve got an incredible raft of shooters, and in my opinion they have one of the best shooters in the world.

“They are a very fresh team, they don’t have any Olympians in their team now so this is going to be a new experience for all of them.

“They are excited to be here as are we… I think we will match up well against them.”

Dual Olympian Keesja Gofers, echoed Webster's thoughts saying: “The Netherlands always have a lot of tall girls, a lot of speed and great shooters.

“We know that they are going to come out firing and they do have a bit of erratic style of play so you never know what you are going to get,” she said.
