The Australian Olympic Boxing Team will kick start their Paris 2024 campaign with two debutants and a dual Olympian taking to the ring on the first day of Aussie competition.
Olympic debutant Tyla McDonald will meet Maria Jose Palacios Espinoza of Ecuador in her opening bout in the Women’s 60kg round of 16.
Palacios Espinoza comes off a win over Sweden’s Agnes Alexiusson in the round of 32 where Tyla saw a bye.
Tyla punched her ticket to Paris with a win over New Zealander Erin Walsh at the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara. A win for the 21-year-old Victorian in her first Paris bout will see her progress to a quarter final match up on Wednesday, 31 July.
In the Men’s 92+kg round of 16, Australian Teremoana Teremoana faces Ukrainian Dmytro Lovchynskyi to open his Paris competition.
At 1.98 metres tall Teremoana is already a giant of Australian boxing but will look to etch his name in the Olympic history books in Paris.

Three months ago, he put the boxing world on notice after winning the heavyweight division at the USA Boxing Invitational beating the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist in the process.
Three years ago, Harry Garside, 24, made history becoming the first Australian boxer in 33 years to take home an Olympic medal.
In Paris, Harry will look to convert his bronze medal to gold as he embarks upon his Paris tournament in the Men’s 63.5kg round of 16.
In his first Paris appearance, Harry will take on Hungary’s Richard Kovacs looking to book his ticket to Thursday’s Quarter Final.
Aussie boxing action begins on Monday at 7:30pm AEST at the North Paris Arena.
