The AOC congratulates Olympic broadcaster Channel Seven after the network picked up three medals at the Olympic Golden Rings Awards for their coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The Golden Rings Awards celebrate Olympic Games coverage across 12 categories.

Channel Seven was awarded

  • Gold Medal for Best Social Media Content/Production - From Little Things, Big Things Grow

  • Silver Medal for Best Athlete Profile – Kai and Saya Sakakibara

  • Bronze Medal for Jess Fox Gold Medal Split Screen

All segments were produced by Nick Barrow and Directed by Lewis Martin.

AOC Chief Executive Officer Matt Carroll says Australians were able to appreciate the efforts of our athletes in record numbers, thanks to Channel Seven’s excellent coverage.

“Broadcast figures were up 71% on Rio 2016, while 4.74 billion minutes were streamed on 7plus through its 40 digital channels.

“The depth and breadth of the coverage was outstanding. For our Australian broadcaster to be successful in three of the 12 categories speaks volumes for the quality of the Channel Seven production team.

“Our athletes and their stories certainly connected with the community during the Games. Channel Seven brought those stories to life brilliantly. The three medals are richly deserved,” Mr Carroll concluded.
