The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has congratulated Channel 9 on winning three awards at the prestigious International Olympic Committee Golden Rings Awards, which celebrate excellence in Olympic broadcasting.
Channel 9 won gold for Best Olympic Programme for its exceptional coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and bronze in both Best Athlete Profile for “Saya Sakakibara” and Best On-Air Promotion for “2024 Paris Olympics Down Under.”
With more than 100 submissions from media rights-holding broadcasters around the globe, Channel 9’s trio of coveted Golden Rings awards highlights the team’s world class broadcasting at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
AOC CEO Matt Carroll commended Channel 9 for its award-winning coverage.
“Congratulations to Acting CEO, Matt Stanton and all the team at Channel 9 on their well-deserved recognition at the Golden Rings Awards,” Mr Carroll said. “Their world-class coverage of Paris 2024 connected Australians with the remarkable stories of our athletes, capturing the spirit of the Games and uniting us all through the power of sport.
“They brought the magic of the Olympic Games into millions of homes across the country, showcasing our athletes and their achievements on the world’s largest sporting stage.
“Thank you to the entire team at Channel 9 who worked tirelessly to deliver an award-winning Games broadcast in Paris.
“To win international recognition up against global broadcasting heavyweights is a great achievement in its own right. To do so only 18 months after Channel 9 were awarded the broadcast rights is truly remarkable. I’m excited to see what they have in store for Australian audiences at the upcoming Milan Cortina 2026, LA 2028 and of course Brisbane 2032 Games.”
The IOC Golden Rings Awards celebrate the achievements of Olympic Media Rights-Holders (MRHs), which in 2024 delivered the most comprehensive Games coverage in history, reaching over half of the world’s population.
