Bruce McAvaney Logies 2022

The AOC has congratulated broadcaster Bruce McAvaney following his induction into the TV Week Logie Awards Hall of Fame last night.

Seven also scored a Logie for the Most Outstanding Sports Coverage for its broadcast of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

AOC President Ian Chesterman says Bruce McAvaney is peerless when it comes to bringing the magic of the Olympics into Australian homes.

“Bruce has been such a critical part of our enjoyment of the Games over many decades. He brings not only great skill to his role, but also great passion, and is admired by all of us, particularly the athletes.

“Bruce has the capacity to make those great moments even more memorable, taking the drama of sport beyond the pictures. His knowledge, his judgement and ultimately his choice of language make him such a deserving winner of this honour,” Mr Chesterman said.

AOC Chief Executive Officer Matt Carroll congratulated the Seven production team for winning Outstanding Sports Coverage Award for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“With no Australian fans in the stands at these Games due to COVID, Seven did such an outstanding job of making Australians feel an integral part of the Team’s success in Tokyo and ensuring the Team knew they had the support of everyone at home.

“They were the most watched Games in history and the quality of every aspect of the coverage was outstanding, particularly given the difficult circumstances in the pandemic. We know that some 82% of Australians watched the Games at some point. Well done to everyone at Seven who contributed to that success,” Mr Carroll concluded.
