Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva has shone on Olympic debut, displaying vibrant energy and creative routines at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Individual All-Around qualifications.
Alex’s first routine fired up the audience, as her dynamic music choice had the crowd enthusiastically clapping along while she performed her Ball routine to score 28.550.
Her Hoop routine showcased edgy artistry, with her sky-high throws helping to earn a score of 30.050, with the conclusion proving particularly popular with the crowd.
“Something that’s very memorable is the ending of my hoop routine,” Alex said. “It’s very unique and the crowd just goes completely insane when I do it.”
Alex’s masterful display of creativity and energy continued through the second part of qualification, as she completed first her Ribbon and then her Clubs routines.
The elegance of the ribbon was on show as it moved fluidly throughout the routine, to see her score 28.900 points and stand in 21st place at the end of the penultimate rotation.

“My ribbon routine is a very difficult thing and to be honest, it wasn’t going very well before the Olympic Games, but I managed to do a clean routine and I’m really happy with it.”
Despite a slight fumble on one of her throws in the Clubs routine, it was nonetheless a definitive end to her debut, scoring 28.900 on the apparatus and finishing the day with a final score of 114.350 to place 22nd.
“It’s incredible to be here and I’m just trying to soak everything up,” Alex said of her debut.
“I’m really proud of the fact that I made it to the Olympics because I’ve been working towards this goal for a long time.
“No matter the results, no matter the outcome, I’m very proud, proud of my team, my family, my coaches, everyone who helped me get here, and there’s a lot of people that I’d like to thank for that.
