Growing up in the NSW Southern Highlands, Phoenix was a very active kid excelling in many different sports including rugby, mountain biking, athletics and water polo. However, it is the sport of biathlon that Phoenix has chosen to take all the way with the goal of one day representing Australia at the Olympic Games.
In early 2023, Phoenix competed at the Youth Junior World Championships where he finished 46th in the 10km pursuit. More recently, he was named to the 2023-2024 Biathlon Australia Junior Team and was also awarded a Tier 3 scholarship within the 2024 Australian Sport Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring program.
