A strong alpine skier, Ava first tried cross-country skiing in year five after being asked to enter an Interschools team. A few years later a friend introduced her to laser biathlon, which she immediately fell in love with. She particularly enjoys the challenge of slowing her heart rate down after skiing really hard, in preparation to shoot.
After taking out her first National Biathlon Championship title in 2022, Ava proudly represented Australia at the 2023 Biathlon Youth and Junior World Championships, helping Australia earn Youth Olympic quota places. Off the snow, Ava is a talented karateka with 15 national titles to her name and at 10-years-old became the youngest Kyokushin World Federation black belt.
