Mitch started in athletics as a four-year-old and was attracted to the sport simply by how it feels to run fast. From Largs, north-west of Newcastle, Mitch competed at the 2022 U20 World Championships in the men’s 110m hurdles, finishing fourth – the best result by an Aussie in 10 years.
Then at the 2023 Australian Athletics Championships Mitch took on the open age men’s field and won, finishing in 13.65 seconds in the final.
