Tyack ranks highly at World Championships

18 October 2017

ARCHERY: Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medallist Ryan Tyack has set himself up strongly having claimed sixth in a field of 120 in the ranking round of the World Archery Championships in Mexico City.

The 26-year-old shot 667 out of a total of 720, finishing 9 points behind Netherlands Sjef Van Den Berg who topped the qualification. He could have finished even higher as well having shot 341 at the midway point to have a share of the lead.

Tyack’s Rio teammate Taylor Worth finished with 647 which ranked him in 44th position.

Tyack’s result sees him progress directly into the third round of head-to-head matchups. The highest ranked opponent he could face there is 27th seeded and world number 11 Marcus D’Almeida of Brazil.

Worth is up against German 69th ranked Camilo Mayr in the first round.

Worth and Tyack combined with Alec Potts at Rio 2016 to win Australia’s first ever Team Olympic medal when they defeated China to claim the bronze medal.
