Matt Denny's hilarious #OlympicTakeover

29 March 2019

ATHLETICS: Matt Denny, aka the ‘Aussie Chucker’ made his Olympic debut in discus at Rio 2016. The then-20-year-old placed 19th in South America with a throw of 61.60 metres

Two years later, Denny became the second Australian athlete, and first in 68 years, to qualify for both the discus and hammer throw at a Commonwealth Games.

At the Gold Coast 2018 Comm Games, the 22-year-old threw brilliantly in the hammer to bag the silver medal with a new personal best of 74.88m. In the discus he was just outside the medals placing fourth with 62.53m.

Now, the Queenslander from the village of Allora is aiming for his second Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020.

This week, the Aussie larrikin took over the Australian Olympic Team Instagram story, to show a day in his life in Brisbane. What unfolded was a hilarious, entertaining, but insightful look into the life of one of the nation’s best throwers….
