IOC Extends John Coates' Membership

27 June 2019

IOC: AOC President and IOC Member John Coates has had his term on the International Olympic Committee extended to the end of 2024 following a vote at the IOC Session in Lausanne.

The IOC decision was taken in recognition of the important role Mr Coates plays as Chair of the Legal Affairs Commission.

Mr Coates acknowledged the vote saying “I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve you and I appreciate the confidence,” Mr Coates said.

While Mr. Coates term as AOC President concludes at the AOC Annual General Meeting in May 2021, the extension of his individual IOC membership means he will continue as a full voting member of the AOC Executive until end 2024.
