Day 8 preview: Moore closes competition for Aussies in Lillehammer

20 February 2016

LILLEHAMMER 2016: Australian short track speed skater will be the last Aussie to compete in the green and gold at the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

Having put together some amazing personal bests in the 1000m and 500m events, Moore will now feature in the mixed NOC relay.

Moore is set to team up with Hungary’s Petra Jaszapati, Netherlands Tjerk De Boer and Japan’s Kiichi Shigehiro for the 3000m event that sees the race run female, male, female, male.

There are two semis with four teams each with the top two progressing through to compete for medals.

"We trained today and yesterday and it should be a really exciting competition," Moore said.

"I'm a bit nervous as there is a bit of pressure because each member of the team is relying on each other but it should be fun.

"We didn't stuff up any of the changes in training so I think we are right on track for the competition."

The Winter Youth Olympic Games has been an amazing learning experience for Moore who competed in her first international competition in Lillehammer. The chance to compete in the relay has given her another opporutnity to continue to improve on the track.

"It's great to be interacting with all the other skaters and coaches.

"Each nation's coaches are helping the other athletes out and it means you learn so much."
