Congratulations Jeff Horn

3 July 2017

BOXING: The Australian Olympic Committee would like to congratulate London 2012 Olympian, Jeff Horn on winning the World Boxing Organisation welterweight title over Manny Pacquiao on Sunday.

Horn was Australia’s best performing boxer at the London Olympics, making it to the quarter-final stage where he went down to Ukranian Denys Berinchyk 21-13.

Born and raised in Brisbane, Horn took up boxing at the late age of 18 and immediately became one of Australia's top contenders in the Light Welterweight division.

The 29-year-old became a triple Australian Champion in 2009, 2011 and 2013 and in the same year claimed the Oceania title, ultimately earning himself a berth at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Horn made his professional debut in March 2013.
