APN Outdoor joins the Australian Olympic Team Partner Family

1 February 2016

AOC: Leading Outdoor media provider APN Outdoor have today announced a partnership of Olympic proportions, joining forces with the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) as an official Team Partner, effective immediately.

In the official partnership launch this morning at the AOC Head Office in Sydney, APN Outdoor revealed a taste of many exciting activations, campaigns and stunts that will further bring the Australian Olympic spirit to the streets, bringing the Australian public closer to team than ever before.

The partnership marks the first time the Australian Olympic Team has joined forces with an Outdoor media provider and is indicative of the growth and anticipated trajectory of the medium. With people spending more time out and about and becoming more selective with the media they consume, Outdoor media provides a globally consumed platform that compliments the universal appeal of the Olympic Games as well as the AOC’s existing media partners.

John Coates, AOC President commented on the announcement “This is an exciting time for us as athletes are selected on the 2016 Australian Olympic Team. We encourage all Australians to be part of their journey and support their Team. A partnership with APN Outdoor grants us access into to the everyday lives of Australians in a way we are keen to explore. With the help of APN Outdoor we will be able to bring the team into the public eye, when Australians are out and about, each and every day around our cities and we anticipate this partnership being long and mutually rewarding.”
The two organisations have engaged in a long term partnership that will carry through until the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, covering both Summer and Winter Games in this time. With plans to utilise the whole suite of APN Outdoor’s formats, the focus will be predominantly on the Elite inventory, covering digital billboards, XtrackTV and other areas of innovation within key outdoor environments. The reactivity, immediacy and flexibility of the Elite Inventory will allow the AOC a unique opportunity to connect with the public, in real-time when they are out and about, facilitating a conversation with Australian’s and their most elite sporting team.

Richard Herring, APN Outdoor’s Chief Executive commented on the partnership “As an ASX listed company, we are so proud and humbled to be welcomed into the Australian Olympic Partner family in this exciting Olympic year. Bringing the Olympic Spirit to the streets through our superior quality inventory, not only aligns with our spirited company values but also with the globally accessible and appealing nature of The Olympic Team. This partnership will provide exciting opportunities for our clients and our staff alike, and we are keenly anticipating the launch and implementation over the coming months.”

Since their initial public offering on the ASX in 2014, APN Outdoor have gone from strength to strength with specific focus on extending their digital inventory across Australia, now boasting Australia’s largest, superior quality portfolio of digital billboards, as well as a national XtrackTV presence. APN Outdoor have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the leadership and pioneering of digital outdoor in Australia with developments across their Elite Screen, Transit Technology, XtrackTV and Airport portfolios nationally and the portfolio continues to grow.
