Strong Aussie Synchro Technical Routine

10 August 2012

SYNCHRO SWIMMING: The Australian Synchronised Swimming Team put together a strong Technical Routine on Day 13 to finish on 77.50 points.

Despite being relatively happy with their score, they currently sit in eighth position heading into the Free Routine on Day 14.

Heavy favourites Russia have taken a commanding lead with a score of 98.10 ahead of China (97) and Spain (96.20).

Dual Olympian Tarren Otte, the only Victorian amongst a team of Queenslanders, said they would try not to focus too much on their current score ahead of tomorrow’s final.

“For us it’s all about how well we performed. You can’t ignore the scores too much but we take on board how we believe we performed and what our coaches say.

“There is no doubt Russia will be the ones to beat but China is really coming through,” she said.

The team has been together for six months and used London as their inspiration, performing to the Beatles and wearing swim suits with key London trademarks on them.

Friday will be a different story, when they use true Aussie inspiration with some classic rock music from ACDC.

The final gets underway Friday at 3.00pm at the Aquatics Centre in London Olympic Park.
