John Cuneo, Tom Anderson and John Shaw won the gold medal in the Dragon class sailing at Munich 1972. On the same day, David Forbes and Tom Anderson’s twin, John, won another gold medal in the Stars. Twins winning gold medals on the same day in different events is a unique occurrence at the Olympic Games.
Anderson, Cuneo and John Ferguson competed at Mexico City 1968, finishing fifth in the Dragons. Anderson had a long and varied career in Australian and international sailing world, including offshore racing. In 1999 he was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame at the same time as his twin brother.
