About Tameka

Tameka Yallop has been part of the Matildas program since 2007.

She was part of the Australian side that won the 2010 Asian Cup and in the following year she was named to the Matildas 2011 World Cup squad.

Four years later Tameka was selected for another World Cup appearance. In the tournament Australia was eliminated at the quarter-final stage, mirroring the results of the Matildas' World Cup campaign four years earlier.

She became an Olympian with the Matildas' squad at Rio 2016 squad. At the Games, the Matildas were knocked out in the quarter-finals by hosts Brazil in a penalty shootout.

For the 2019 World Cup, Tameka was a prominent fixture in the Matildas starting lineups as the side qualified for the round of 16 with Norway. After playing the whole match, the Australian side were eliminated in a penalty shootout.

She has won three W-League premierships and two championships with Brisbane Roar, and has since gone on to play in London with West Ham United.

At Tokyo 2020 Tameka and the Matildas made all of Australia proud in putting together a historic achievement.

Their fourth place finish, which was nearly a podium finish after a 4-3 loss to the USA in the bronze medal game, is the highest ever finish by the Matildas at an Olympic Games.
