Suzanne's Story
Suzanne Frances “Sue” Malaxos is a former Australian long-distance runner who represented Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Born in Denmark, Western Australia, on 30 December 1961, she specialised in marathon and distance running events.
At the Atlanta Olympics, Malaxos competed in the women's marathon, finishing 57th in a time of 2:50:46. Her Olympic selection came after many years of success in cross-country, road running and marathon competition.
Throughout her career, Malaxos won Australian road running and cross-country titles and represented Australia at World Cross Country Championships and other major international events. She recorded a marathon personal best of approximately 2:32 and was among Australia's leading female distance runners of the 1990s.
