About Stuart
Stuart Tinney first tasted Olympic success at Sydney 2000, where alongside Andrew Hoy, Matt Ryan and Phillip Dutton, Tinney earned gold in the three-day team event, marking Australia’s third successive victory in this discipline. Tinney’s score during the team event left him individually in first place.
Tinney continued to represent the Australian eventing team at Athens 2004, with the side failing to capture the same heroics from four years prior, finishing sixth overall in the competition whilst ranking 38th individually.
After a 12 year absence, Tinney marked his return to Olympic competition at Rio 2016, once again in team eventing. In Brazil, Tinney earned bronze alongside Chris Burton, Sam Griffiths and Shane Rose, while placing 22nd individually.
Tinney was primed to make his fourth Olympics appearance at the Tokyo Games, only to be ruled out on the eve of competition when his horse Leporis was deemed unfit to compete. The combination was subsequently substituted by reserves Kevin McNab and Don Quidam.
