Steven Solomon

Steven Solomon burst on to the senior stage winning the Australian National Championship in 2011 with a personal best of 45.58 seconds in the 400m. He made his senior World Championships debut at Daegu in 2011 with the 4x400m team that just missed the final. He defended his national title in 2012 and was selected to make his Olympic debut in London.

At 19 years of age, the Sydneysider was Australia’s youngest athletics competitor in London. He produced several outstanding performances including a new personal best in the 400m with a time of 44.97 seconds in the semi-final; he became the first Australian male to make a 400m final since Darren Clark in 1988 and he finished eighth in the 400m final in a time of 45.14 seconds. He went on to finish fifth in the heat of the 4x400m relay as a part of the Australian team.
