Rebecca's Story
1980 –
In the women’s quadruple sculls at Athens 2004, Rebecca Sattin, Dana Faletic, Kerry Hore and Amber Bradley were fourth across the line in the final. After the medals had been presented it was discovered that a member of the third-placed crew, from Ukraine, failed a drugs test and Australia was elevated to the bronze medal position.
A member of the silver medal-winning British crew, that finished behind the Germans, was Rebecca Romero who won the gold medal in the women’s cycling individual pursuit at Beijing 2008. Prior to Athens, Sattin claimed three world championship medals in sweep-oared boats. In 2001, she was in the gold medal-winning eight and in 2002 she won another gold medal in the coxless fours and a silver in the eights.
