Ramon's Story

West Australian kayaker Ramon Andersson represented Australia at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, both times in the men’s K4 event. His highlight came in Barcelona when he teamed with Kelvin Graham, Steve Wood and Ian Rowling to win a bronze medal. The Aussies were the only non-Europeans to qualify for the final, where they improved on their best time to secure third place. Their success added to the celebrations for Australia in canoe/kayaking in Barcelona, with the squad returning a perfect set of medals: gold for Clint Robinson in the men’s K1 1000m, silver for Danielle Woodward in the women’s K1 slalom, and bronze to the men’s K4 team.
